BRAINSTEM: LITTLE BRAINS – ROBOTICS ENGINEERING 2 (6 WEEK SERIES)
(K – 1 boys & girls)
Dates: Tuesdays 3:00 to 4:00 pm in Ms. Wright’s Classroom (Apr 4-May 9)
Cost: $135 + GST for 6 x 1 hour sessions
Description: A robotics engineer is responsible for design, creating, and programming robots. Robotic systems that are able to perform duties that humans are either unable or prefer not to complete. Robots help to make jobs safer, easier, and more efficient, particularly in the manufacturing industry.
The little brains will discover what is behind a robot, a number of possible designs, the materials, what software is, and the programming using the LEGO® WeDo materials. Computers will also be used to build their robotic animals and toys. This will be under the guidance of our leaders and assistants under the STEM education programs.
BRAINSTEM: SPECIALISTS/MANAGERS: CIVIL ENGINEERING (6 WEEK SERIES)
(Grade 2-7 boys & girls)
Dates: Tuesdays 3:00 to 4:30 pm in Mrs. Wright’s Classroom (Apr 4-May 9)
Cost: $160 + GST for 6 x 1.5 hr sessions
Description: Civil engineering includes the design and construction of buildings, roads, bridges, and dams. It is one of the oldest forms of engineering. Knowledge about materials, designs, and construction process allows us to explain the construction of such world wonders as the Tokyo Skytree, the tallest tower in the world in Japan. The specialist and managers will learn about forces, materials, structural design, foundations, and physics concepts. They will use math to measure and improve their prototypes while learning concepts of: design, building, and testing his or her skyscrapers, bridges, and roads. They will use his or her creativity and curiosity under the STEM methodology while having loads of FUN.
